Cookie Policy

Last updated: April 11, 2026

This cookie policy explains how SveaStream uses cookies and similar technologies on sveastream.com. We comply with the EU ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC, amended by 2009/136/EC), the GDPR (2016/679) and applicable Nordic legislation. Our guiding principle is minimal data collection — we use only strictly necessary cookies, which do not require consent.

01What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device (computer, mobile, tablet) when you visit them. They are used to remember preferences, keep you logged in or measure how the website is used.

  • Session cookies — disappear when you close the browser.
  • Persistent cookies — remain on the device for a set period.
  • First-party cookies — set by sveastream.com.
  • Third-party cookies — set by domains other than the one you are visiting (we use NONE of these).

Similar technologies include localStorage, sessionStorage, web beacons and fingerprinting. SveaStream does not use any of these for tracking.

02Our principle: minimal cookies

SveaStream is intentionally built with privacy by default. We use only strictly necessary cookies — the only category that does NOT require consent under the ePrivacy Directive.

  • No marketing cookies.
  • No advertising or retargeting cookies.
  • No third-party cookies (Google, Facebook, X, etc.).
  • No cross-site trackers.
  • No affiliate cookies.

This is why you do not see a cookie banner on sveastream.com — strictly necessary cookies do not require a consent prompt under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive.

03Cookies we use

The table below lists every cookie SveaStream sets on your device, its purpose, duration and type:

CookiePurposeDurationType
NEXT_LOCALESaves your selected language to display the website in the correct language1 yearStrictly necessary

All our cookies are first-party cookies, classified as strictly necessary, and contain no personally identifiable information.

04Vercel Analytics — cookieless analytics

SveaStream uses Vercel Analytics for aggregated visit analytics. Vercel Analytics is designed for privacy and operates ENTIRELY WITHOUT cookies or fingerprinting.

  • No cookies are set on your device.
  • No IP addresses are stored (anonymised on receipt).
  • No individual users are tracked or identified.
  • Only aggregated and anonymised data (page views, geographic region, device type).

Because Vercel Analytics does not use cookies or process personal data, no consent is required under the GDPR or ePrivacy. The service is fully compliant with the EDPB guidelines.

05Third-party services and cookies

We use the following external services, none of which set cookies on your device during normal visits:

  • Vercel — web hosting and CDN (no cookies).
  • Resend — email delivery (activated only by the contact form, no cookies on sveastream.com).
  • Upstash — rate limiting via IP hash (no cookies, no personal data storage).
  • Stripe / payment providers — may set their own cookies only on their own checkout page (outside sveastream.com).

None of these services set cookies or track you while you browse sveastream.com.

06What we do NOT use

For full transparency, here are the tracking technologies SveaStream explicitly does NOT use:

  • Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads tracking.
  • Facebook Pixel or Meta Conversions API.
  • TikTok Pixel, X Pixel or other social media trackers.
  • Hotjar, Mixpanel, Amplitude or other behaviour trackers.
  • Affiliate cookies or retargeting systems.
  • Browser fingerprinting or cross-site tracking.

We do not sell, share or use your data for advertising, profiling or marketing.

07Legal basis

Cookie usage is primarily governed by two EU legal frameworks:

  • ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC, amended by 2009/136/EC) — requires consent for non-essential cookies. Strictly necessary cookies are exempt.
  • GDPR (2016/679) — applies if a cookie processes personal data.
  • National implementation: Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (UK PECR), lag (2003:389) om elektronisk kommunikation (Sweden), ekomloven (Norway), lov om elektroniske kommunikationsnet og -tjenester (Denmark), tietoyhteiskuntakaari (Finland).

Because we only use strictly necessary cookies, we do not need to ask for your consent. Our legal basis is Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive (exemption for strictly necessary cookies).

09Your rights under the GDPR

Because we do not collect personal data via cookies, in practice there is no cookie-based data about you to request, correct or delete. You always have the following rights under the GDPR:

  • Right to information about our data processing (this policy).
  • Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR) — applies to all other processing of your data.
  • Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR) — if we hold data from other sources.
  • Right to object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR).

See our privacy policy for full information about how we process personal data outside the cookie context.

We may update this cookie policy from time to time. The latest version is always published here with its update date. Because we do not use consent-based cookies, changes normally do not require any action from you.
